Cholera Hits Kabarole

THERE is an outbreak of cholera in Kabarole district, the district health department has confirmed.

By Emmanuel MulondoTHERE is an outbreak of cholera in Kabarole district, the district health department has confirmed.The District Director of Health Services, Dr. Kabagambe Rugamba recently said at least two cases had been confirmed at Buhinga Government referral hospital. It was reported that one of the victims died.Rugamba said another 28 suspected cases were reported last month. He said affected areas included Kagote and Njara in Fort Portal municipality and Harugongo in Burahya county.One family was said to have had as many as five victims admitted. “We are trying to see whether we can get some assistance from the ministry (health) especially intravenous fluids and tents,” he said.He said the hospital lacked an isolation ward so temporary shelters were needed.Ends
