ISO Probes UPE Buildings

A team from the office of the director general of the Internal Security Organisation (ISO), has been deployed to investigate irregularities in the construction of the Universal Primary Education (UPE) classrooms under the school facilitation Grant scheme in Luweero district.Frederick Kiwanuka reports that ISO officials have been in the district for the last three weeks and visited several sub-counties.The investigation follows public outcry over the anomalies in the tendering system where tenders were given to district councillors and employees who did shoddy work. In Ngoma sub-county, one of the district engineers was ordered to reconstruct a classroom.Ends
