By Vision ReporterMAJOR Mike Sali Salambwa, an aide-de-camp of former presidential candidate, Col. Dr. Kizza Besigye, has been sent to High Court for bail consideration.Salambwa, a suspected rebel and his three co-accused, are facing treason charges. They are on remand at Kigo Prison, the home for terrorists.Appearing before the Buganda Road Court Grade One Magistrate, Duncan Gaswaga, Salambwa and his colleagues were informed that their file had been forwarded to the High Court for bail consideration on a date to be fixed. They had previously applied for bail. They also applied for amnesty but it has not been considered.Salambwa on May 27 pleaded to the magistrate, saying he should be granted the amnesty that he applied for.He decried the “inhuman†living condition prisoners face at Kigo Prisons, saying there were no proper services in the prison hospital and that he feared for his life.“I thought by now I would have been granted my amnesty. I hear people in Gulu and other parts of the country have been grated their amnesty but I don’t know what is happening to mine,†Salambwa said.He also complained to court that whenever he writes letters to other bodies like the Uganda Human Rights Commission, the prison authorities do not forward them there. His co-accused, Byaruhanga, complained to court that he has been in prison for the last seven months and whenever they appeared in court they were informed that inquiries in their case were incomplete.Ends
