By Vision ReporterThe chief of Military Intelligence, Col. Nobel Mayombo, has denied that his organisation had been instructed by President Yoweri Museveni to compile a list of city gangsters suspected to be behind the murders in the city, as reported by the New Vision yesterday.Mayombo also said he had not been summoned to Kampala from Gulu to attend to the soaring crime in the city. “I came to meet the Rwandese defence delegation. I do not think the security situation in the city has really gone out of hand as to warrant calling in the army. We give the police a supportive role but they can still handle the situation,” Mayombo said.He also said the President would not demand a list of gangsters but would only give instructions on what to do. Mayombo told The New Vision he had not called for any security meeting to deal with the matter as the paper reported on yesterday. The paper said Museveni had directed the CMI and the Internal Security Organisation (ISO) to give him a list of suspected gangsters terrorising the city.Ends
