Makerere Rd Shut

By Jude Etyang CHINA Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC), the firm rehabilitating the Nakivubo channel, will this Thursday block Makerere Hill Road to allow for the installation of concrete pipes across the road.The project manager, Song Hongsheng, in a statement yesterday, said all traffic to Nakulabye via Makerere Hill Road will be diverted to Kyadondo or Kimera road.Both alternative routes join Hoima Road, just as Makerere Hill Road does.Hongsheng said the diversion will run from July 18 for three weeks. Hongsheng said 65% of the project, which is aimed at solving the flooding in Kampala, had been completed.He added that by the end of the year, if there is not “much local interruption,” the project will be complete.Ends
