Police officers rushed to the school but were too late to stop the fire. They, however, stopped the students from burning the two school vehicles. The Fire Brigade called in from Mbale, over 40kms away, arrived too late to stop the fire from spreading further. It had already gutted the offices of the headmaster, his deputy, the bursar, the library and five classrooms.“This is barbaric. The damage is so extensive and it will take long for this school to recover” Sorowen said. The strike followed the suspension of four students for escaping to attend a beauty contest in Tororo town, 15kms away.Ends
