ABOUT 3,000 primary school teachers in Kabale district have staged a sit-down strike protesting ‘meagre’ salaries, reports Darious Magara.The teachers peacefully marched through Kabale town and later converged at the office of the Chief Administrative Officer, Sam Katehangwa to present their grievances to him recently.Meanwhile, headteachers were reported to have panicked over what was to be done to prevent the students from becoming idle during the strike.Katehangwa promised to discuss the matter with the education and public service ministries. He also appealed to the teachers to continue carrying out their duties, promising that the Government would seek solutions to their problems.
