By Douglas Mazune AFRICA Rally Championship (ARC) leader Satwant Singh followed up his rival John Gemmel in the Rwanda rally this weekend ahead of the TOTAL Pearl of Africa Uganda rally August 30 - September 1. The Ugandan-born Zambian Satwant (22 points) yesterday left Kampala for Kigali by road to take on South African Gemmel who is just two points behind him. Gemmel also entered Rwanda through Uganda on Monday. Satwant who will drive his new Subaru Impreza group N will go route reccing today ahead of Rwanda’s round of the ARC series this weekend.The Pearl of Africa Uganda rally that has attracted 12 foreign entrants so far is sponsored by TOTAL Uganda, Hima Cement, South African Airways, Hotel Equatoria and Celtel. Didi’s Amusement Park, IT Solutions, Fire Masters, Daks Couriers and Access Reprographics are service providers.Meanwhile, Joseph Mulema has joined the dfcu rally August 10-11 making it six drivers so far registered for the seventh NRC round event sponsored by dfcu Bank.r Four Kenyan drivers led by Pearl of Africa Uganda rally champion, Paul Bailey left for Rwanda yesterday for this weekend's Rwanda round of the African rally championships.Reuben Olita reports from Nairobi that Bailey and drivers Phineas Kimathi/ Dave Macharia, Nishit Shah/ Kailesh Sheikh and John Ngunjiri/ Abdul Sidi will be shaping up ahead of the Pearl of Africa Uganda rally in late August.
