Robber killed, four arrested in Bushenyi

THE Police in Bushenyi shot dead a robber and arrested three others who had just grabbed sh4.5m from a truck belonging to Coca-Cola company, recently.

By Allan TuryagumaTHE Police in Bushenyi shot dead a robber and arrested three others who had just grabbed sh4.5m from a truck belonging to Coca-Cola company, recently.The police pursued the thugs who were travelling in a white Toyota corolla from Kashenshero in Ruhinda county where the robbery took place up to Rutoto on Ishaka-Kasese highway. The regional police commander, Edward Ochom, said the dead robber was identified as Steven Bwanika, a former LDU in Matete in Sembabule district. Those arrested were identified as Yazid Mugagga of Masaka district, Bulhan Kayemba alias Bull, also of Matete and Julius Tumwine of Nyamitanga in Mbarara district.Ochom said two suspects escaped.“They robbed the truck which had just sold soda in Rukungiri but fortunately the manager informed us in time and we mounted a pursuit,” Ochom said.He said the robbery took place at about 8:30pm and that the thugs were intercepted an hour later as they headed for Kasese. Ochom said only sh250,000 was recovered. He said six robbers had been killed in the region in the last two months.
