THE Minister of Finance, Gerald Ssendaula has rejected demands by Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) to increase their employees’ pay as a means of curbing corruption. The minister is right. By raising salary URA would be succumbing to corruption. It would be equivalent to paying employees for being corrupt. What if the increments do not have an effect? Will they be hiked higher? Corruption is not about how much one earns it is simply greed, theft and lack of moral integrity. URA should adopt zero-tolerance to graft. Corrupt employees must be sacked and prosecuted!Ends
