By Vision Reporter THE Kampala Kids League U-13 team that conquered the world at the Gothia and Tivoli Cups in Europe, have been voted sportsmen of the month of July by USPA. The soccer team took the monthly accolades after earning 450 votes from the sports pressmen. Second was the same team’s captain and goalkeeper Benjamin Ochan with 355 votes. The meeting also commended Dorcus Inzikuru and Paul Wakou for breaking the national 5000m records as was KKL leading marksman Daniel Serunkuma and Kibuli SS that lifted the Buganda Cup. r TOTAL (U) Limited will today hand over sh4.4m to help organise the annual Uganda Sports Press Association (USPA) gala, slated for September 8. Rally ace Charlie Lubega will be crowned sportsman of the year 2001. The fuel company will hand over the cheque today at 10.00.am. “Our good friends TOTAL have promised to take full charge of next year’s sports gala,” USPA chairman Geoffrey Kulubya told the monthly meeting at Tourist Hotel. r UPSA yesterday named a committee that has Kulubya (chairman), Dan Byobyonka, Sophie Matovu, Norman Katende, Hassan Badru Ziwa and Henry Mutyaba to organise the memorial service for all fallen sports scribes slated for Lugogo on August 28.
