By Yunusu AbbeyTHE Public Service head, John Mitala, will soon convene a high-level government meeting to discuss the Okello House purchase.“This will be in response to a letter, Mr. Alexander Okello, the property owner, wrote to the President’s Office in August last year, in which he offered to sell his five-storey building in Nakasero to the Government,” a source said.“The planned meeting would determine whether the Government should accept the offer and buy the property or give a counter proposal,” the source added.Government officials moved into the building in January 1994.The multi-billion shilling building, commonly known as Okello House is on plot 10A Nehru Avenue, Nakasero.Presently, presidential aides and other officials occupy the, opposite State House and overlooking Nakasero Primary School.Okello, who formerly worked in the then Grindlays Bank (Stanbic Bank) and National Insurance Corporation,is a property developer.He is currently constructing another multi-storeyed building on George Street, Kampala.Ends
