The Government is to make road safety programmes part of the primary school curriculum, the Minister of Works Housing and Communication, Eng. John Nasasira, (pictured above) has said.

The Government is to make road safety programmes part of the primary school curriculum, the Minister of Works Housing and Communication, Eng. John Nasasira, (pictured above) has said.Nasasira told Parliament on Thursday that the move aimed at curbing road carnage which he said was high. He said a comprehensive programme for road safety was being drawn and its implementation would start with the road users.He said the Government was also drawing a curriculum for driving schools. “They (driving schools) will be like colleges,” Nasasira told the House. He said the schools would be monitored and their graduates would be vetted by an inspector from the transport ministry.Several parliamentarians had raised queries as to what the Government was doing about the rising number of accidents.James Mwandha (Disabilities Eastern), said some taxi drivers consumed drugs, including mairungi. He asked if the drivers would be tested.Ends
