GOVERNMENT is awaiting a report from a delegation from Washington that went to appeal to the USA to give the Bujagali power project the go-ahead.

By Yunusu Abbey GOVERNMENT is awaiting a report from a delegation from Washington that went to appeal to the USA to give the Bujagali power project the go-ahead.The team reportedly met US Justice Department and World Bank officials in Washington and discussed the stalled US$500m hydro-power project.Syda Bbumba, the energy and mineral development minister who led the team, flew back home on Monday morning.But Bbumba yesterday said she was unwell and could not discuss the outcome of her mission with The New Vision.Francis Kabagambe, the ministry’s permanent secretary and Eriasi Kiyemba, the Uganda Electricity Transmission Company Ltd boss, declined to comment.But other sources said the team was compiling its report for presentation to Prime Minister Prof. Apolo Nsibambi.“We are optimistic things will be ok. The team was composed of people who knew what to tell the Americans and plead for their country,” a source said.Ends
