KABALE — The municipal council has closed over 50 buildings whose owners have failed to pay ground rent.

KABALE — The municipal council has closed over 50 buildings whose owners have failed to pay ground rent. The exercise, which is enforced by municipal council officers and local defence personnel started early this week. The central division officers and the local defence personnel said the affected landlords have not paid ground rent ranging from sh30,000 to sh800,000. Over 100 business premises have been closed in the council’s move to collect tax. The municipal clerk, Johnson Baryatuma, said the council had lost a lot of revenue from ground rent and other items due to complacency. Ends
