Rubaga Gets Sh900m For Construction Of Division Headquarters

THE World Bank has given Kampala City Council (KCC) a grant worth sh987m for the construction of the Rubaga Division headquarters, reports <b>Catherine Ntabadde</b>.

THE World Bank has given Kampala City Council (KCC) a grant worth sh987m for the construction of the Rubaga Division headquarters, reports Catherine Ntabadde.

KCC yesterday signed a contract with Complant Engineering and Trade (U) Ltd, a Chinese company that won the tender to construct the three storied building on Kabakanjagala road.

The World Bank through KCC’s Nakivubo Channel Rehabilitation Programme (NCRP) is funding the project, which is slated to last 8 months. Rubaga division is currently renting offices on Namirembe Road at sh1.82m per month.

World Bank officials as well as Solomon Alemu, senior engineer, local government permanent secretary Vincent Ssekono, Rubaga division chairman Justin Ssendikaddiwa, town clerk Gordon Mwesigye and NCRP officials witnessed the ceremony.

Kampala mayor John Ssebaana Kizito and Mwesigye signed on behalf of KCC while Ssekono and Cheng Qian signed on behalf of government and Complant respectively.

“The project has taken us some time because we had to look for suitable land,” Tamale Kigunddu, the NCRP coordinator, said.
