THE second round draw of the Castrol Open squash Championship will be made at Kampala Club today, writes Phillip Corry.
Zambian star and top seed Lazarus Chilufya, one of the first players to storm the second round, will know his opponent after the draw.
Chilufya is pitted against the winner of first round qualifier between Ugandan rivals Oskar Semweya and Tendo Nsereko.
Botswana’s Lefeka Modise, the number two player, battles a local youngster Ben Mayiga who advanced after a 9-7, 9-5, 9-5 victory over Amos Nzeyi.
Zambia’s seed three Gareth Schnehage will meet Geoffrey Rugazora, who easily beat Bayenn Tusiime 9-0, 9-4, 9-2.
Ugandan veteran Christopher Musaazi is seed 4 and will take on Edward Mubiru. Seed 5 Brian Okumu will meet Stephen Mworozi.
Paul Nkambwe is seed 6, Lawrence Matovu (7) and Ibrahim Nyanzi (8) and they will play Raymond Banyanga, Mike Sebalu and Jerry Quigley respectively.
The main draw has attracted 32 players with 16 others playing in the Plate event for losers.
Organisers Uganda Squash Rackets Association (USRA) scrapped the ladies event after no one registered.
The one week event is co-sponsored by uganda telecom and Sheraton Kampala Hotel.
