SIR— Your letter of October 2, “Why does Ken Lukyamuzi keep talking hot air?â€, cannot go unchallenged.
If I express interest in contesting the presidency in 2006, why should the eyebrows of Nabendeh Wamoto be raised? Government is an art which should be contested for by all. Wamoto would like to know why I should only contest the presidency if President Yoweri Museveni re-surfaces in 2006.
How many pledges has President Museveni made but not fulfilled? So many. According to President Museveni’s early promises, the war in the north should have ended years ago. Has it?
In case the Movement floats President Museveni again, I shall definitely join the presidential race.
I am a student of the presidency. Above all, I have studied President Museveni the man from A to Z. I know what he is and what he is not. My colleagues from the opposition may benefit from such an experience.
They would have a concrete challenger to the man with an iron-fist. That is what I meant during the Simbawo Akati Awo programme on Radio Simba.
I can contest the presidency even during normal circumstances. However, I am not ambitious or aggressive.
I shall join the presidential race as a dangerous substitute should there be necessity.
I still insist that the next president should have a vision for the environment. Today, all forests are at the mercy of the President.
Wamoto’s final submission of what should be done is acceptance of the presence of political discord calling for action. He wants a corruption-free presidential candidate and he wants Museveni to become a member of Parliament. To do what? That is open admission that there is need for democratic reform in this county. I am one of those capable of transforming Uganda for the good of all.
