THE Rukungiri LC5 Chairman, Gabriel William Kangwagye, has said the level of service-delivery in NGO hospitals is poor in spite of the money government gives them. Kangwagye said since these NGOs hospitals and health units get government funding, they should offer cheaper and quality service, writes Chris Magoba. “The money they charge is a lot. The patients are suffering, yet the Government disburses a lot of money to these hospitals. We are going to meet these people and chart a way forward. Government may withdraw funding if they do not change,†Kangwagye, while addressing a poverty action fund meeting recently said. He said money sent to these health units was part of the poverty action fund, which must be monitored as done in government hospitals. Nyakibale and Kisizi are the two NGO hospitals in the district. There are also 17 other health units which get government grants monthly.
