THE Lord’s Resistance Army rebels have started surrendering to the UPDF due to pressure from the army’s patrol forces and helicopter gunships.

The UPDF 4th Division spokesman, Lt. Paddy Ankunda, said yesterday the LRA rebels had surrendered with their guns and three captives in Acholibur sub-county, Aruu county, Pader district on Monday evening.

He added that the rebel fighters surrendered in possession of one gun, one grenade and 150 bullets.

Ankunda said the areas within Kitgum district were enjoying some peace in the past few days.

The UPDF 4th Division commander, Col. Andrew Gutti, yesterday said the rebels had moved away from most parts of the south and west of Gulu and were in the eastern parts and in Pader, Lira and Apac districts.
