THE UPDF have continued to attack and destroy suspected hideouts of the Lords Resistance Army (LRA) rebels in Lira and Pader districts.
Security sources in Lira said this had forced the rebels to divide into small groups.
“Security forces heavily deployed in the area have continued to destroy rebel hideouts in Lira and Pader districts. The rebels are scattered in small groups avoiding direct contact with the UPDF.”
“They are now in disarray, have no food and are greatly demoralised as they continue to lose their fighters and captives to the UPDF,” the sources said.
According to military and security sources, the UPDF have in the last one week destroyed three suspected LRA hideouts in Okwang and Orum sub-counties in Lira forcing the rebels to flee towards Omot and Adilanga in Agago county in Pader.
President Yoweri Museveni is camped in the north to oversee the operation.
