OH, Edibily Lunyamila again. Not even age seems to be saving Ugandan soccer from the one Tanzanian name it fears most.

The veteran Lunyamila —30 years old he says— was yesterday named to lead Tanzania’s attack against Uganda, whose clubs he has haunted for the past decade.

He frustrated KCC and SC Villa with his wing play in the Cup Winners Cup and CECAFA club championships in the mid nineties.

National coach Paul Hasule, knows Lunyamila well, having been a victim as a player of his skills in the Villa-Yanga club championship final in 1993.

Abubaker Tabula and Phillip Obwiny will have an eye on the veteran marksman.

Hasule’s defence should also have Dan Mubiru and Simon Masaba in the Global Africa Football organised Castle Cup semifinal at Sheik Amri Abeid memorial Stadium.

“Mubiru and Masaba are coordinating well and (Philip) Obwiny will always take some time off to boost the defence,” said Hasule after yesterday’s training.

“Some players are not experienced but it is the teamwork to help us through,” said Obwiny.

With Magumba dropped due to injury, Philip Ssozi will take on the playmaker’s job.

Tanzania dropped the other veteran striker Madaraka Selimani from their 22-man squad.

The 42-year-old Selimani was brought out of international retirement to play for Tanzania earlier this month in their African Nations Cup qualifier against Sudan. Tanzania lost the match 2-1 at home.

Uganda must beat Tanzania to qualify for the final against either Kenya or South Africa on Saturday.

Kenya have called up two of their foreign-based players. Midfielder John Muiruri from Belgian champions Genk and Kenya’s South African-based captain Musa Otieno have been named in a 16-man squad by coach Jacob Mulee.
