CLUBMAN Rally Championship (CRC) leader William Blick will capture the 2002 title in the Castrol Independence rally this weekend if he finishes ahead of his cousin Arthur Blick.
William (Mitsubishi Evo) who heads the CRC with 96 points, eleven better than his TOTAL Rally teammate Arthur, will seal the championship if he (William) bags maximum 20 points and Arthur does not finish among the top three CRC drivers.
With two sprints still on the CRC calendar, Arthur, who has impressed many with his driving skills in a rear-wheel Toyota Supra, is optimistic he will close up the gap.
“This weekend’s rally is very important, we will do our best to win in the CRC category. The car is okay, I hope we don’t get mechanical problems,†Arthur who recently received sh5m package from Lonrho Motors Uganda said.
William did not rule out the possibility of Arthur snatching away the title.
“Arthur could close in on me because he has a better car. We still have sprints to do, he (Arthur) can win the championship,†William said.
The draw of the final round of the National Rally Championship (NRC) that has attracted 21 drivers will be conducted today at 8.00pm at Sheraton Kampala Hotel. The rally will be concentrated in Busoga.
Castrol Uganda has sponsored the rally while Jovenna oil company, South African Airways, IT Solutions, Sheraton Hotel, DHL, Fire Masters and Pepsi Cola are co-sponsors.
