A smartly-dressed man, unintentionally caused a stir in Kyebando trading centre when he found himself selling roast groundnuts.

“He met a vendor walking towards Kalerwe and asked for groundnuts worth for sh500. However, when he he paid her a sh5,000 note, she excused herself to look for his balance,” an eyewitness said. She left the basket of groundnuts near the man and as soon as she moved off, customers started invading him.

The man saw the funny side of it and started selling the nuts. Passers-by looked him over several times and could not understand why such a smart man was selling groundnuts, and in Kalerwe of all markets.

The woman took a while coming back. Some people identified him as a teacher at a new local secondary school.

Two of his students, who passed by took the news to the school, drew the attention of other students, but by the time they arrived, the woman had come back and the teacher had already got his change and left.
