Rebels get Amnesty Act
GULU — LRA rebels have received copies of the Amnesty Act from the District Reconciliation and Peace Team. The LC5 boss, Lt. Col. Walter Ochora, said, “A number of copies of the Amnesty Act have been dropped by air to the rebels because they have always rubbished the amnesty act while in the bush and yet when they surrender, the first thing they ask for is amnesty.

Thugs hijack Entebbe taxi
KAMPALA — Four thugs armed with pistols hijacked a mini-bus on Monday night and robbed the passengers of money and other items at Nyanama, off Entebbe road. The thugs boarded the Entebbe-bound taxi at the Old Taxi Park as passengers. Kampala CID chief, Moses Sakira, said the thugs took over the taxi at Kisubi and drove it back towards Kampala.

Mob stones one to death
KABERAMAIDO — A mob stoned a suspected robber to death at Otubo in Lwa county. The mid-eastern regional police commander, Bob Ngobi, said Rogers Owuchi was part of thugs who shot at a lorry in Atigo forest reserve and killed Patrick Omoding, a trader. Ochero was part of the gang terrorising Ochero sub-county. The incident happened a fortnight after a gateway bus was ambushed.

EAC anthem for next year
KAMPALA — The East African Community (EAC) has embarked on a process through which it will introduce a single unifying anthem next year. “The new anthem will be used on functions bringing the three sister countries together,” Amanya Mushega, the EAC’s Secretary General, said at the opening of the 4th East African Jua Kali exhibition at UMA Conference Hall on Monday.
