LUWEERO – Five men accused of taking part in the mob-killing of a Local Defence Unit personnel have jumped bail. Justice Moses Mukiibi of the High Court was yesterday perturbed when of the eight men facing murder charges, only three were in court. Those absent were Jack Kyolabaomu, Misi Mwidu, Paul Muwonge, Twayiri Sentogo and Augustine Bogere.

Man jailed
KIBOGA – A 35-year-old herdsman was yesterday sentenced to 14 years in prison for defiling a seven-year-old. Justice Dan Akiiki Kiiza convicted Lawrence Kiiza of Katogo village, saying prosecution had proved him guilty. The convict lured the child into sexual intercourse on several occasions while grazing her parents’ cattle.

Bus crash
NTUNGAMO – One person died on the spot while several were admitted to two hospitals after a Jaguar bus they were travelling in from Kigali to Kampala overturned in Ntungamo yesterday. The driver, identified as S. Kyeyune, died instantly, while those who sustained serious injuries were rushed to Itojo and Kabale hospitals for treatment.
