LUWEERO police have bust a gang of armed thugs suspected to be behind the rampant murders in the district.
Two suspects were arrested with three guns.
The suspects, Ssessanga and Charles Lumu, were sniffed by police dogs from a forest hideout, during an operation at Kikoma village, 28 miles on the Kampala-Gulu road.
Lumu was shot in the foot and taken unconscious to Luweero hospital where an angry mob killed him.
Luweero DPC James Epodu said the thugs admitted participating in the recent armed robberies in which two police officers, two juveniles and six adults were killed.
The most recent victims included the district special branch officer, Muhammad Ssekulima, a police constable, Godfrey Kukyana, and D. Waliya, a 14-year-old pupil. Ends
