Leave UNEB boss alone!

SIR— Saul Waigolo’s letter in your November 16 edition regarding the credibility of the UNEB’s boss Matthew Bukenya is unfair.

SIR— Saul Waigolo’s letter in your November 16 edition regarding the credibility of the UNEB’s boss Matthew Bukenya is unfair. By virtue of his position, Mr Bukenya was required by the Electoral Commission to verify academic qualifications of those vying for political posts and would not logically defend those whose academic qualifications were in doubt. If Kanakulya Banga, among others he defended, lost the case in court, I don’t see how that renders Bukenya unfit to head UNEB. President Museveni himself threw his weight behind Wasswa Ziritwawula who lost in the Kampala mayoral race. Does that mean Museveni cannot manage the affairs of this country? We should learn to appreciate what other officers do instead of apportioning blame and just imagining that they should resign. Mr Bukenya inherited a problem-ridden institution. He has done well.
