MOURNERS including top government officials on Friday broke down and cried at All Saints Cathedral in Nakasero during a requiem mass for former ambassador Samusoni T. Bigombe, who died of cancer in Mulago Hospital on Sunday.

“Samusoni was uncompromising on truth,” Mondo Kagonyera, the state minister for general duties in the Prime Minister’s Office, said as he wiped his tears.

The Rev. Canon Monica Sebidega and ambassador Kakima Ntambi held him as he wept during his eulogy.

Bank of Uganda governor Tumusiime Mutebile broke down in the middle of a Rukiga song which he dedicated to the deceased.

Bigombe, who was husband to the former state minister for northern Uganda reconstruction, Betty Atuku Bigombe, served as an ambassador in Germany, Japan, South Korea, Australia and the Vatican prior to his retirement in June this year.
