Bushenyi deputy resident district commissioner Patrick Kawamara has instructed LC1 chiefs to register children of school-going age in their areas.

Kawamara told the New Vision on Tuesday that the move aimed to establish the number of children who were not going to school under the Universal Primary Education Programme.

“We are concerned that despite the provision of free primary education, there are still some parents who keep their children at home,” he said.

He said the exercise would go on up to the end of this month so that children found not in school are forced to do so.
