AS if she had left home without scrutinising her face in the mirror, a lady took time to observe herself in the Greenland Tower glass and lost a phone in the process to an alert thief.

This happened November 19, when an unidentified lady stopped and removed her comb, lipshiner and eye pencil from the handbag and started organising herself while facing the glasses.

Unfortunately, in the process of removing all above items, an alert pick-pocket realised that she had a good Nokia phone when she removed it and put it back in the bag.

As soon as the lady had started her saloon work, a youthful man snatched the bag and ran away very fast through the pedestrian crowd.

In response, the lady cried foul, “Banange, a man has taken my bag catch him, catch him, he is the one, he is the one,” as she pointed at where the man passed.

What surprised the public was the thief’s response to the lady’s alarm, which was wonderful.

“He is the one, catch him, him, him, he has stolen a lady’s bag, he has passed there, see him moving,” a thief said as if it was a different person who had taken the bag and not him.

People’s attention was diverted by questioning who had taken the bag and they couldn’t see anyone.

The thief ran a short distance, removed the phone and dropped the bag.
