MOMBASA’s Ben Omondi had a perfect night — scoring 20 points as his side edged out foul troubled Falcons to lift the 10th edition of the Abe Linc International basketball title at YMCA Wandegeya on Sunday.

Falcons collapsed after captain Bernard Mufutu, Sam Obol, Eric Malinga and Lucky Kande fouled out of the game that went to overtime after a 48-48 deadlock.

“We were only eight people and Bernard was the only point guard. We had a bit of inexperience on court and that is how we collapsed,” Falcons coach Ronald Kaboha who also missed the services of MVP Henry Malinga said.

Mufutu had sunk in 16 points before he fouled out late in the game that ended after midnight.

Earlier, Mombasa and Falcons triumphed over Sadolin Power and Charging Rhino respectively to storm the final.

In the juniors final, Knight Riders recovered from a one point deficit on 34-35 with two minutes of time left to snatch a 38-35 victory over Veg BC.

Cain Okiror spurred Riders with a game high 14 points in the tense encounter that could have gone either way.

Amazon Rhino humiliated debutantes Namagunga to take the women event that attracted only two teams.

MTN, Afro-net and Kampala Kids League sponsored the tournament organised by Rhino Athletics Club.
