A COMMITTEE to probe allegations of graft in the Judiciary has been set up.

The nine-man Judiciary Integrity Committee is chaired by Supreme Court Judge, Joseph Mulenga.

Other members are the Court of Appeal’s Justice Galdino Okello and two High Court Justices, Akiiki Kiiza and Caroline Okello.

Stephen Musota, also a member and the chief registrar of the Courts of Judicature, told journalists at his office that the committee was set up at the height of public corruption allegations.

“We are aware that the Judiciary the world over is not a favourite of anybody, but when the claims trickled in, we realised a need to built its integrity among the entire public. This committee is part of the self-examination process,” he said.

“It has been trying to establish the levels of corruption, their causes and possible solutions. It has already come up with a plan of action to be discussed at a workshop in Jinja,” he said.

Other members are Prof. Nsereko Gyagenda, Ocaya Lakidi, Mr. Segirinya, an assistant registrar and Miss Harriet Wolayo, a deputy registrar.

President Yoweri Museveni recently promised to institute the commission.
