A UGANDAN Supreme Court Judge, Dr. G. W. Kanyeihamba, has been appointed by the International Commission of Jurists (ICJ) to lead a team of jurists to settle the friction between the government and the judges in the Kingdom of Swaziland.
The team of jurists is scheduled to visit the kingdom on a fact-finding mission next year. The jurists will also look into the differences growing between lawyers and trade unionists.
It includes the ICJ president Prof. Hansungule from Zambia, a statement from the Supreme Court of Uganda said on friday.
This followed a bitter row between the authorities and the judiciary in a court case filed by the mother of an 18-year-old girl allegedly abducted to become the King Mswati-III’s 10th wife.
Swaziland is Africa’s last absolute monarchy. Ends
