Primary school teachers who graduated with diplomas from Mubende National Teachers’ College earlier this year have protested the cancellation of their results and vowed to pursue the matter in courts of law.
Kyambogo University registrar Dr. A. A. Cuula communicated the cancellation of the results in a December 4, 2002 letter to all directors of NTCs where exams were sat.
The letter that The New Vision saw stated that the decision followed an investigation that proved massive leakage of the exams.
The new exams are slated to begin January 27.
In a stormy Wednesday meeting that followed the communication of the decision by Sylvester Rwaka Adyeri, the dean of studies, the affected teachers vowed not to sit new exams saying that the cancellation of their results was unfair, high handed and subject to challenge.
Consequently they appointed a five-man committee to pursue the matter through legal experts. The committee that was given the task of collecting signatures to support the teachers’ action comprises Herbert Ntende, Richard Oguti, Patrick Ssembuusi,, Ben Kibunguchi and Retsy Nankusu. Ends
