Xmas deaths MBARARA - One person died and 12 others were seriously injured in separate road accidents during the Christmas season. Mbarara OC traffic Phiona Beine said on Friday that Francis Kakuru of Katebe was knocked dead at Kiyanja near Mbarara town by a speeding car driven by a lady. Beine said there were fewer accidents this year.
KCC approves KAMPALA - The city council has approved the development of Kamwokya market into a modern shopping centre. The National Social Security Fund is to fund the project. Central division chairman Charles Serunjogi said architects had done some preliminary work on the project.
LC boss calls MUBENDE - The president of Uganda Local Authorities Association (ULAA), Capt. John Otekat, has advised local authorities in the district to respect laws to maintain good leadership between politicians and technocrats. Otekat, who is also the Soroti district chairman, said the tug-of-war between the district chairperson and technocrats was due to failure to respect the law.
MP urges Mubende - The district woman MP, Sylvia Senabulya, has called upon parents to groom their children to become good citizens. Senabulya emphasised the importance of maintaining self-respect between the parents as a sign of love that will guard children against violence. She was addressing residents at Katente recently.
