CENTRAL Division chairman-elect Charles Serunjogi has threatened to stage ‘a protracted war’ following a decision by the Electoral Commission to allow a recount of votes for the division.

We want to fight professional thieves,” Serunjogi told a press conference at the former Democratic Party offices on Johnstone Street.Dressed in a green and white kitengi shirt, Serunjogi said if the EC went ahead with the recount, he would go to court or stage a demonstration in the city.“Democracy has been flouted for the last 15 years but government has now turned against the heart and wishes of its citizens,” Serunjogi said. He was flanked by Latif Sebaggala, MP for Kawempe North, and Kenneth Kakande, Uganda Young Democrats Vice-President.Serunjogi was last week declared winner in the Central Division poll for chairmanship. He beat Moses Bosa by three votes. Kakande said, “We are going to defend ourselves against the petition.”Ends
