Makerere University - Bids invited for Proposed Procurement of a VSAT System

The Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency, Sida, through its Department for Research Cooperation, SAREC, has made a grant of SEK 20 million to Makerere University to support its integration of information and communication technology into all the university functions. The principal focus of this grant is improving the effectiveness and efficiency of research and research linkages. Part of the proceeds from this grant is to be applied to the procurement of a VSAT System for Makerere University.Makerere University is now inviting bids for the supply, installation and commissioning of a fully operational VSAT system.Manufacturers of VSAT systems or their authorised representatives as well as Internet bandwidth providers are invited to bid for the supply of this system.A pre-tender meeting will be held at 10 am on Tuesday 29th January 2002, Department of Physics, Makerere University to conduct intending bidders around the installation site and all such information as necessary to draw up a bill of materials.Prospective bidders should note that:1. The closing date for the submission of quotations will be Thursday 28th February 2002, 10.00 am.2. The successful bidder will be required to deliver, install and commission all equipment 2 months after issuance of an LPO.3. The successful bidder will be required to execute a 10% performance bond that will be forfeited in the event of failure to deliver as per successful bid after award of the tender.4. Bidders are required to pay a non-refundable fee of shs 50,000 at UCB Makerere through the university cash office.5.
