THE Electoral Commission chairman has warned UPDF soldiers in Kabamba Military Barracks and MPs from Sembabule against meddling in the district elections, reports Dismus Buregyeya.Al-Hajji Aziz Kasujja, who was briefing candidates for the Sembabule district council chairmanship on Sunday at the district headquarters, said he had received reports that the District Internal Security Officer (DISO) Lt. Joseph Aliganyira, was harassing voters. He said people should be left to elect leaders of their choice. Kasujja warned the candidates against tribalism and ordered them to stop holding illegal rallies or face arrest. Kasujja’s warning follows a disagreement between incumbent district chairman Herman Sentongo and his opponent, Dr. Elly Muhumuza, over the campaign programme. The commission dropped John Behangana, the district returning officer, for failure to sort out the matter. Kasujja said Muhumuza was wrong to hold rallies at the sub-county. Drama ensued during the meeting when Dr. Muhumuza accused Kasujja of favouring Sentongo.Ends
