By Hamis KaheruTHE Bishop-elect of Muhabura Diocese in Kisoro, the Rev. Can. David Sebuhinja, has said he is not afraid and is ready to take on his new job despite opposition from some Christians.“I can’t be afraid because I believe God has called me to do it,” he told The New Vision yesterday.A group of Christians in the diocese, including former state minister Philemon Mateke, have sworn not to allow Sebuhinja to be enthroned their bishop in preference to Can. Wilson Baganizi.“I am the head of the laity. Christians don’t want him. He can’t be our bishop, take it from me,” Mateke, who is also district council chairman-elect told The New Vision recently. But Sebuhinja said, “I am ready to become bishop because where there is God’s call, there is His purpose and power. That’s my conviction. In my case, I believe He has called me. I believe He has a purpose for me and I believe He has power to use me to serve Him.” Sebuhinja said he would seek reconciliation and work with those opposed to him when he assumes office on April 28.“Those are our brothers and sisters. I feel I belong to them and they belong to me. I have never departed from them,” he said.Ends
