Opio tipped to be UGC captain

By Douglas Mazune UGANDA Golf Club (UGC) will elect new officer bearers today with Charles Kareeba and Fred Opio contesting for the post of captain. Nominations have already been closed.Kareeba had been expected to sail through unopposed but Opio joined the race to set up what is expected to be a tight contest.Out going captain Sam Zaramba did not seek re-election for another one-year term.The annual general assembly starts at 6.00pm at Uganda Golf Club, Kitante.Patrick Malungu and Rutta will contest for the post of vice captain.Out going general secretary Gad Musasizi will not contest to retain his post leaving Alex Kobia as the only choice for secretary. Bernard Phillip is also unopposed for the post of treasurer.UGC chairman board of trustees James Rwanyarare is expected to preside over the polls.ends
