MAKERERE University has received 30m Swedish Kroners (about sh5b) from the Swedish International Development Agency (Sida) to facilitate an East African environmental journalism and communication training project.

By Kezio MusokeMAKERERE University has received 30m Swedish Kroners (about sh5b) from the Swedish International Development Agency (Sida) to facilitate an East African environmental journalism and communication training project.The agreement to facilitate the project that will include Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Burundi and Rwanda was signed yesterday by the Swedish Ambassador Hans Andersson and the university Vice Chancellor, Prof. John Ssebuwufu.Andersson said the Swedish are funding the project because it is “a result of Sida’s interest in working with local stakeholders to raise awareness regarding numerous environmental challenges facing the Great Lakes Region.”Ends
