By Allan TuryagumaPRESIDENT Yoweri Museveni urged the people of Kinkizi West to vote for Defence minister Amama Mbabazi during the 2001 parliamentary polls, Kanungu RDC Kamara Bayeye told the Mbarara High Court yesterday.Bayeye was one of the 20 witnesses testifying against Musinguzi’s petition which claims Mbabazi was elected unlawfully. Bayeye also told the court, presided over by Justice Egonda Ntende, that Museveni advised the people against voting for Mbabazi’s sole opponent, James Musinguzi, saying he had strayed from the Movement. He said Museveni, while addressing a public rally at Kihihi trading centre, preached about the good things the Movement government brought to Uganda and urged the people to vote only for those who could promote the system.“The President said Mbabazi was a committed member of the Movement and a very hard working person,” Bayeye said.Ends
