Stolen cattle handed to K’jong

A total of 18 head of cattle stolen by Teso LDUs from the Karimojong grazing along the Moroto/Katakwi border were on Sunday handed back to the rightful owners.

Nathan Etenguin Mbale A total of 18 head of cattle stolen by Teso LDUs from the Karimojong grazing along the Moroto/Katakwi border were on Sunday handed back to the rightful owners.The cattle were handed back at a ceremony held at Lomaratoit, a grazing area on the border between Bokora county (Moroto) and Kapelebyong county in Katakwi district.The UPDF 3rd Division Commander, Col. Sula Semakula, presided over the hand-over ceremony that was also attended by the LC5 chairman, Moroto, Mr. Terence Achia, the Deputy RDC, Mr. Andrew Keem and the RDC of Katakwi, Mr. Chemaswet Ndiwa.Moroto district authorities said the cows were grabbed by the LDUs who attacked the pastoralists at Giriki valley where most of the livestock from Bokora county were grazing and being watered.Katakwi district authorities, however, said the pastoralists abandoned the cows after they saw an armoured personnel carrier (APC) on patrol. Keem said the LDUs claimed the cattle were left astray.
