The Norwegian government has pledged financial support to the Uganda forestry sector programme to assist in the conservation and sustainable use of forest resources.

The Norwegian government has pledged financial support to the Uganda forestry sector programme to assist in the conservation and sustainable use of forest resources.Wilson Sempa reports that the Norwegian Counsellor, Harald Karlsnes, announced this at the annual programme report meeting held at Sunset hotel, Jinja, on Tuesday.“The purpose of funding the programme is to contribute to the integrated forest sector that achieves sustainable increase in economic, social and environmental benefits by Ugandans especially the poor and vulnerable,” Karlsnes said. Since the bilateral agreement between Norway and Uganda was signed in 1998, about Norwegian Krones 94.701m have been disbursed to the Uganda forestry sector.
