Makerere for career guidance school tours

Makerere University, faculty of Arts is organising a country-wide tour of secondary schools in a career guidance programme. The aim is to introduce faculty courses to the students.

The aim is to introduce faculty courses to the students. The move is the first of its kind in the history of the university.Mr Hannington Ssengendo, associate dean faculty of Arts told Education Vision Wednesday, that the tour is meant to encourage students apply for courses in the faculty.Ssengendo said many government-sponsored students have gone private because they think most courses pursued in the faculty of arts are flat courses and not worth pursuing.“Many students admitted under BA Arts think that flat courses are not worth pursuing and are meant to throw them on the streets,” he said.The tour, which starts in the last quarter of march, is to cover Busoga College Mwiri, Kiira College Butiki, Wanyange girls and PMM Jinja girls. Others are St James SS, Jinja SS, and Jinja parents.It will then head into the northern, central and western regions.ends
