By Fred KaweesiIT is 5.00pm at the Kampala Rugby grounds, home of Rhinos. If ever there was a case for not judging a book by its cover, then this would be the perfect one. For you can feel the presence of the country’s most influential rugby figure who believes it will be a never say die battle at both club and country.John Musoke, current national captain and Rhino hooker, has promised to pull the necessary punches to spur his club to greater heights.“Last season was electric and great. Great because we (Rhinos) pushed country giants MTN Heathens and underwriters Kobs for the Super Six title, though a bit nagging that we lost our last tie that should have sent us into third position,†he said. The 23 year-old Musoke, destined for an elongated spell with the Rhinos, was however adamant that he had made the wrong choice of club. “In 1998 I could have looked at softer options like Heathens or Kobs, or may be Pirates, but I didn’t.“It’s all because I love to challenge and besides competition, raise the standards of the game in the country.“Sponsorship is what makes great sides.†“This year we have kept everybody, so the maturity and experience are just within what should make us stronger than ever,†he boasted.Rhinos, which was started in 1995, had for three years failed to raise full squads, but will always look back to the year 2000– when they won the Shields title and qualified for the Super Six.ends
