Nyero Rock to be tourist site

NYERO Rock paintings in Kumi district, a state protected archeological site, is one of the 13 sites to be developed as tourist attraction sites in Uganda, reports Gerald Tenywa.According to Ephraim Kamungangire, the Commissioner for Antiquities and Museums, Nyero is under a state of neglect because the Government lacks funds. Nyero is a historical site believed to have been one of the oldest settlements of early man in Uganda.This was disclosed at a one-day workshop at Bugolobi recently.It was attended by the field manager of Heritage Trails Project, John Tinka, Bishop Betungura, and other officials from the Ministry of Tourism, Trade and Industry.
