Naava to pay Zziwa sh14m

By Hillary NsambuCATHERINE Naava Nabagesera, the Kayunga Resident District Commissioner (RDC), yesterday issued post-dated cheques worth over sh14m in a bid to avoid a bankruptcy petition.Blaze Babigumira, the lawyer for Margaret Zziwa, the incumbent Kampala district Woman Member of Parliament, yesterday presented to the High Court a March 19 letter from Babigumira and Company Advocates, withdrawing the petition.The petition had been fixed for hearing yesterday by Justice John Patrick Tabaro.Zziwa had petitioned the High Court, seeking orders to declare Nabagesera bankrupt for failure to pay sh14,350,000, which she owed as costs resulting from an election petition she lost.
