Mbale EC Registrar Cites Mujasi Supporters In Poll Ills

The Electoral Commission registrar for Mbale, Mr. Jimmy Musimbi, has said supporters of the district chairman elect, Mr. Bernard Mujasi, took over the tallying of results during the LC5 elections, reports Nathan Etengu.He said the Returning Officer, Mr. Fred Bukeni Gyabi, and himself were scared and forced to confine themselves in their offices. Musimbi said he was afraid of reaching the tallying centre after violent supporters began suspecting all the officials of planning to rig the election in favour of the incumbent chairman, Charles Walimbwa.Musimbi was on Friday giving his testimony to the select committee of Parliament set up to probe election violence and malpractice in the country.Ends
